Nas Denies Launching Kings And Queens Record Label

by STEVEN J. HOROWITZ
UPDATE: Contrary to Tyga's comments, Nas is not starting a record label.
Nas has reportedly launched a new record label titled Kings and Queens.
During an interview on MTV's RapFix Live with Sway Calloway, Tyga, who collaborated with Esco and Wale on the cut "Kings and Queens,"  said that the Queensbridge rapper took inspiration from the cut and decided to start his own imprint bearing the same name.
"[Nas] actually has a label called Kings and Queens that he just started, so he was like, it's just cliché that I sent him a song called '[King] and Queens' and he just started a label called Kings and Queens, which is crazy," he said.
Nas previously launched Ill Will Records in 1999 upon releasing his fourth album Nastradamus. In 2005, he launched The Jones Experience under Def Jam.

Young Guru Talks Jay-Z's New Solo LP, Says "Watch The Throne 2" In Consideration

by SEAN RYON
Young Guru gives a few details about Jay-Z's next album and says "Watch the Throne 2" is a possibility for the future.
Complex recently caught up with Jay-Z's go-to studio engineer Young Guru to talk about the Brooklyn legend's future projects. Although Guru kept tight-lipped about Hova's twelfth solo LP, he did mention that the project will follow a tightly focused concept that will surely please his fans.
"Jay-Z is always working on stuff, it’s a concept that I can’t talk about but I’m marveled at how smart this guy is," he noted. "When he told me the concept, I was like ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ It was just so simple. It’s not a concept album though. It’s not like American Gangster, it’s not a Beatles concept album. It has a concept and a title, and the title and the concept fit him so well that people are going to be like ‘Wow.’"
He added, "The simplicity of the title and the concept that it conveys is incredible...I can’t tell you the title, it’s so good it’s like, ‘Oh my god why didn’t I think of that? What made you think of that and why haven’t we done that before?’ It’s just staring us in the face all these years, we could’ve been put that out as an album concept."
Guru also spoke on the possibility of a sequel to Jay and Kanye West's widely successful collaborative album Watch the Throne. Although there has been no confirmation as to whether the Roc Nation and G.O.O.D. Music impresarios would link up for a second album, he said it's definitely in consideration. For the time being, however, he said that Jay and 'Ye are focused on their respective solo andG.O.O.D. Music compilation LPs.
"It's definitely a serious consideration. Hasn’t been underway yet but definitely serious consideration. Has been talked about but hasn’t been executed yet. Definitely could happen," he explained. "A lot of artists just say shit too but if you think about it, this is just my opinion, the way I would like it to go - I would like Kanye to do the G.O.O.D. Music album and Jay-Z to do a solo album then they go out and tour and do all that shit and then next year, or the end of the year, we get Watch the Throne 2. To me, that would be the best thing to happen. I think the G.O.O.D. Music album is necessary for Kanye to establish that brand because they need to establish [themselves]."

Prodigy Says He's Fine With Wiz Khalifa's "O.N.I.F.C." Album Title

by SLAVA KUPERSTEIN

Prodigy has no problem with Wiz Khalifa drawing inspiration from "H.N.I.C."
When Wiz Khalifa finally explained the meaning behind his upcoming album, O.N.I.F.C., it was revealed that the acronym stood for Only Nigga In First Class, and that the meaning was derived from Prodigy's H.N.I.C. solo debut.
Now, Prodigy reveals to MTV News that that's just fine with him.
"Yeah, I heard about the Wiz Khalifa project coming out. I forgot the exact name of what he called it, but I read an article that he got the idea of doing that from my H.N.I.C.projects that I put out," said P.
"That's all love. I love Wiz Khalifa, I love his music. I ain't mad at ya, dog," added Prodigy, before offering to collaborate. "Let's do something together. Let's do a song or something. Let's do a tour or something. I got ya back, dun."

Andre 3000 Explains How He Picks Collaborations

by STEVEN J. HOROWITZ
Andre 3000 reveals what it takes for him to dole out an elusive guest verse for another artist.
Since Outkast released Idlewild in 2006, Andre 3000's output has been noticeably rare, with only a few guest verses dropping here and there. Speaking with The FADER, Three Stacks explained what it takes for him to hop on a track with another artist and how it all comes down to the music when he's deciding where to toss a 16.
"Most of the time it has to be the music. The music has to kinda move me in some kind of way. Sometimes it’s emotionally, sometimes it’s just being there supporting another person," he explained. "Even the Chris Brown remix [for "Deuces"] — of course I love the beat, but at that time a lot of people were on Chris Brown as a human being. And I know he’d gone through his troubles or whatever and I just was like—I just wanted to stand by him and be like, Hey, you know, you can’t really charge a man forever and condemn a man forever. So it’s really just like a support thing. I thought it was a cool thing to do."
Echoing earlier statements that he's hoping to release his solo album in 2012, Andre emphasized how now is the time to get the wheels turning on the oft-delayed LP. The ATLien notes that he has to put out his ideas because if he doesn't, then someone else will execute the same concepts.
"I’m actually putting myself on deadlines more than ever. I don’t have someone policing that. Even in Outkast there were no police. But now it’s just time. I’m at a place now where my deadline is my own self. I’m looking at it like, Okay, I don’t want to be like 40 years old and to haven’t done this album. And I don’t have a sense of time. When people say, Man, we haven’t heard from you in like five years, or seen you, to me, it feels like a year. I don’t have a good sense of time, but I do know I’m not a spring chicken anymore. I have to get my ideas out before I just let them go away. That’s how ideas work. All the songs are written, we all just get them as gifts. And if you don’t act upon your ideas they’ll go to somebody else. I’ve seen so many ideas that I just sat on that other people have done years later, and I’m like, Wow, I could have done that. I just didn’t do it."

by SEAN RYON

Less than a week ago, Max B's label Amalgam Digital shot down rumors that the currently incarcerated rapper's long-pending appeal had been denied and that he'd have to serve out his full 75 year prison sentence for a 2006 attempted robbery-turned-homicide. Young Jeezy Says He Wanted Kanye West On The "I Do (Remix)"

by DANIELLE HARLING

Young Jeezy talks "Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition" collaborations, says he edited "SupaFreak" for 2 Chainz appearance.
Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy revealed an interesting bit of news about his most recent album, Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition, during an on-air interview with DJ Whoo Kid. According to Young Jeezy, Drake was initially on the earlier version of “I Do” and on top of that Kanye West was originally intended to be on the remix of the song.
“Actually he [Drake] was on the earlier version man,” Young Jeezy explained to DJ Whoo Kid. “And I told him I wanted to do a remix with him and Kanye so I was really waiting on the Kanye verse to come back, but then the record was so close to being number one I was like ‘Fuck it. I’mma just have to let it go like this.’ That mothafucka number one now so I can’t do no complaining.”
On top of attempting to recruit Kanye West for the “I Do (Remix)" Young Jeezy also revealed that “SupaFreak,” his TM: 103 track featuring 2 Chainz, initially featured three verses from Jeezy but one was dropped in order to fit 2 Chainz’ verse.
“2 Chainz one of them cats man you know he kinda went through the grind so you kinda gotta respect his grind because he really got out there and got on the right records and made the right records,” said Young Jeezy. “The reason why he was my first choice is because those are the types of records he’s really been fuckin with lately. And those are the types of records I was doing a lot in the beginning of my career. Now it’s like ‘Cool, he do them type of records. Let’s do one together.’”
Young Jeezy also went on to explain that there will likely be a music video for the “I Do (Remix)" and that it’s really a matter of getting everyone together as well as solidifying a treatment for the video.
