Nicki Minaj, Cee Lo Green, M.I.A. Join Madonna Onstage In Super Bowl Halftime Show
by SLAVA KUPERSTEIN
Madonna brings Hip Hop back to the Super Bowl.
As expected, Madonna's performance on Sunday (February 5) at halftime of the Super Bowl was a big production.
What was unexpected, however, was the involvement of several Hip Hop artists in her performance.
Nicki Minaj was on hand with M.I.A. to join the Material Girl for her new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin
," which concluded with what is sure to be a controversial middle finger to the camera from M.I.A.
Cee Lo Green was also on hand, assisting with portions of "Open Your Heart," "Express Yourself," and "Like a Prayer."
Also involved in the performance were LMFAO, who performed portions of their hits "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It."
Aside from last year's performance by the Black Eyed Peas, this year's halftime show marks the first Hip Hop performers involved in the event since Super Bowl XXXVIII, which included performances from P. Diddy and Nelly, and ended with the infamous Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction."
Birdman Hopes To Add Gospel, Country And More R&B To Cash Money Roster
by RASHAD PHILLIPS
After being included on Billboard magazine's annual "Power 100 List," Birdman says he wants to diversify the YMCMB roster and include other genres.
When Billboard magazine put together their annual “Power 100 List,” Hip Hop took a few prominent positions in the form of Jay-Z (listed with wife Beyonce) and “Birdman” (listed with co-founder/co-CEO Ronald “Slim” Williams). Jay-Z and Beyonce took the highest spot of any Hip Hop/R&B contributors by being listed together at the number 13 slot. And Brian and Ronald Williams weren’t far behind at the number 25 spot.
The Williams Brothers have been responsible for selling over 75 million records since signing a $30 million pressing and distribution deal with Universal back in 1998. Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Drake, DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj all record under either the Cash Money or YMCMB umbrella. The pair have alsonegotiated book deals and a YMCMB debit card all while eyeing a bigger haul.
“We dominate Rap, but we need to dominate R&B,” Birdman told Billboard. “We need to dominate Pop, Gospel, Country—we’re a brand so we should be able to put out all these types of music. We just got to keep grinding.”
Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Beyonce produced the youngest person to appear on the pop charts, as their daughter Blue Ivy Carter is listed as a performer on the Pharrell produced track, “Glory.”
As an artist, Beyonce has moved over 29 million units both as a soloist and a member of Destiny’s Child. On the business side of things, Mrs. Carter has endorsement deals with L’Oreal, Target and her own House of Dereon imprint. And Jay-Z adds 12 number one albums 28 million albums sold and his own deals with Roc-a-wear, Roc Nation, HP and other companies.

2 Chainz Says The Reaction To Raekwon's Comment At His NYC Show Was Blown Out Of Proportion
by DANIELLE HARLING
2 Chainz speaks on Raekwon's "pay homage to me son" comment, says Raekwon was likely being honest and genuine.
Days after Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz performed in front of a sold-out crowd at famed New York City music venue S.O.B.’s, the rapper linked up with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to speak on his New York City debut.
The first topic to be brought up in regards to 2 Chainz’ show was Raekwon’s “pay homage to me son” comment. When asked about Raekwon’s comment, which followed 2 Chainz’ set, the rapper explained that the comment was blown way out of proportion and revealed that he’s had a good relationship with Raekwon for years.
“The reason I didn’t catch it or feel offended is because me and Raekwon really have a great relationship,” 2 Chainz explained. “Going back six or seven years ago. Just cool and not even music. My birthday party in Atlanta, Rae and Cappadonna came to my birthday party. They came to the studio. We got right, went to that together. And so I think cause we’re in New York some people in New York look for negative things. Sometimes they try to look into it and break it down when I knew he was honestly, genuinely saying he was proud of me, where I came from. We’ve had conversations about Method Man, Luda, just everything, just Hip Hop. So when he came out there I felt like he was just congratulating me on where I came from.”
2 Chainz also spoke on performing in New York City for the first time and seeing people from different demographics rocking out to his music.
“The S.O.B.’s event was definitely sold out. It was groundbreaking for an artist like myself. Straight from Atlanta, College Park, coming from where I came from it was definitely a good look….When I looked at it and when I broke it down New York is really the home for critiquing. It’s the Hip Hop Mecca,” said 2 Chainz. “It’s the capitol of Hip Hop so for dudes in New York, especially with different demographics, to actually rock with your music especially coming from the South that’s sort of like a big deal. I told people we gonna get the ladies they gonna come anyway you feel me? But for me to bring the dudes out, I’m talking about Hispanic, white, black, all the brothers coming together for this real campaign it felt good.”

Pharrell Williams Describes Consulting For The Oscars, Jay-Z & Blue Ivy Carter's "Glory
by SLAVA KUPERSTEIN
Pharrell explains what it's like working with Hans Zimmer for the Oscars, as well as the song he produced for Jay-Z and his daughter.
Pharrell may be the busiest producer in Hip Hop. Interestingly enough, much of his work these days actually has nothing to do with Hip Hop.
In a recent interview with GQ.com, the talented artist discussed a slew of subjects, including his music consultant position with Hans Zimmer for the Oscars.
We have to reinterpret some of the music for the nominees. We have to do other music as well that is at times new and original and at others borrowing from movie scenes.

"We have to reinterpret some of the music for the nominees," he explained. "We have to do other music as well that is at times new and original and at others borrowing from movie scenes."
Pharrell was paired with Zimmer, a composer whose score for The Lion King won him an Oscar. The two collaborated previously on the score for 2010's Despicable Me. "It's an honor for me because I get to be mentored, creative, and credited for learning under the auspices of somebody like him. I'm always honored when he takes my direction and to have direction come from him. It's really been this interesting collaborative thing. But for me, secretly, it's still like school and I love it."
Pharrell was also asked about his thoughts on "Glory," the song Jay-Z penned for his daughter, which Williams produced. "[T]hat was another covert operation," he said, adding, "Everything was by design. That's all I'll say."
50 Cent Explains $1 Million Super Bowl Bet, Is Skeptical Of Birdman's Claimed Bet
by SLAVA KUPERSTEIN
50 Cent provides the details behind his bet on tonight's big game, and says he doesn't believe Birdman's talk of a $5 million bet.
In a recent interview with Yahoo, 50 Cent cleared up rumors that he would be posing nude if his New York Giants were to lose in tonight's (February 5) Super Bowl.
"This is what happens. People say really crazy things on my Twitter, and I say, 'Okay,' so my fans can see what crazy people are saying," explained Fif.
Though 50 won't be showing skin, will be making a sizable bet on the game. "I won [five hundred-thousand] on a bet on the last Giants game. So I said I'll bet it back. ...It would just be risking what I won the first time."
Aside from his own bet, 50 also discussed Birdman's alleged five million dollar bet. "Baby has said he has five million dollars on the Patriots. I think he just was passionate about the Patriots winning and he just said that. I don't think he would actually bet five million dollars."
