50 Cent takes his threats against his label to the next level, while Rick Ross dropped one of the buzziest projects of the New Year. Diddy also addressed the "black cloud" hanging over Bad Boy Records.
This week, 50 Cent turned his battle with Interscope Records into a full-fledged war, threatening not to promote any releases of his on the label and to put out another mixtape for free. Meanwhile, Rick Ross did just that, dropping 2012's buzziest project Rich Forever , which impacted yesterday afternoon (Jan. 6th). Diddy also gave a candid interview this week, talking about why people think that Bad Boy Records has a "black cloud" hanging over it and clarifying his controversial comparison of Rick Ross to The Notorious B.I.G.

50 Cent Says He Will Not Support His New Music

Looks like 50 Cent’s battle with Interscope has turned into a full-fledged war. At first, he threatened his longtime imprint to release another free mixtape since it wouldn’t release his album. But then he took his threats to the next level. Stating that he’s “lost all faith in the team I’m on,” Fif declared that he willnot be supporting any of his future releases on the label. He also dropped a bomb that he doesn’t “think I’m gonna live much longer,” but later clarified that he meant life is simply short and he’s aware of that. While his musical life is on the rocks, Fiddy did have a strong week in the business department, with the announcement that one of Pepsi’s independent bottlers will distribute his Street King energy shot. He also discussed competition with Dr. Dre in the headphone market, but said it wasn’t really direct rivalry.

Rick Ross Releases Rich Forever Mixtape

Rick Ross managed to release one of the buzziest projects this year. Yesterday afternoon (Jan. 6th), Ricky Rozay unleashed his latest giveaway Rich Forever , hosted by Shaheem Reid and DJ Scream. The album-quality offering featured a strong roster of guest appearances including DiddyStyles P,FuturePharrell Williams2 ChainzDrake and French Montana, who spoke on Drizzy’s barbed verseon “Stay Schemin.” Meanwhile, production came courtesy of J.U.S.T.I.C.E. LeagueBeat BillionaireMike WiLLDRichThe InkrediblesBoi-1da and Arthur McArthur, who explained how he ended up with two placements on the project.

Diddy Speaks On The “Black Cloud” Hanging Over Bad Boy Records

Diddy hasn’t had it so good with Bad Boy Records over the past few years. Not only did his first generation of the label dwindle away, but the second, which included Danity KaneCassieDay 26 and more, failed to make a long-lasting impact. During an interview this week, Puff branded the hate a “strong propaganda movement” against the label and that critics don’t really understand the moves necessary to be made in the music industry. He also clarified his controversial comparison of Rick Ross to the Notorious B.I.G., stating that he channeled his influence, not that he was the second coming of Biggie.
